It is very difficult to do a part-time B.E / B.Tech in Engineering line for a working professional. There are very few colleges in India that offer part-time B.E / B.Tech degrees in engineering.

Today we are going to learn about one of the best part-time B.E / B.Tech degree alternatives known as IEI (Institution of Engineers India Membership).

This is easy to do for a working professional, AICTE, and other board-approved, totally part-time with a minimum duration of 2 years only.

The Institution of Engineers (IEI) is the largest professional multidisciplinary body of engineers in India. It is established in 1920 in Kolkata.

After Independence, the Institution of Engineers was protected under article 372 of the Constitution of India.

The Institution of Engineers has been serving the engineering fraternity for over a century with its national and international presence through 125 centers spread all over India.

Institution of Engineers India Membership:

The Institution of Engineers (IEI) conducts section A & section B examinations known as AMIE (Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers).

Any candidate can become a member of the Institution of Engineers (IEI) by completing the above section A & section B examinations.

In this article, We will discuss How to become an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers, AMIE course duration and fees, the AMIE exam, syllabus, eligibility, and everything about AMIE which is required.

Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers:

Any candidate can become an associate member of the institution of engineers by completing section A & section B examinations.

After appearing and clearing these examinations candidates become eligible to get a degree certificate which is equivalent to BE/B.Tech in Engineering.

This BE/B.Tech equivalent certificate is recognized by all state and central governments of India.

The union public service commission (UPSC), all state public service commissions, and many public/private sectors in the country consider the AMIE degree equivalent to BE/B.Tech in Engineering.

AMIE is the best alternative for students who are unable to pursue BE/B.Tech in engineering by regular mode.

You can get BE/B.Tech in engineering degree in minimum duration of 2 years and maximum duration of 12 years by the Institution of Engineers (IEI).

AMIE Course Eligibility:

For Technician Member:

12th science students with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English subject with a minimum of 45 % aggregate result can get admission for Technician Member.

After pursuing a Technician Member degree candidate can apply for a Senior Technician Member.

A diploma holder candidate is a direct eligible to get admission as Senior Technician Member.

For Senior Technician Member:

3 Years diploma holder candidate can get direct admission as Senior Technician Member.

But the condition is that the diploma holder candidate must be an Engineer by working professional.

An unemployed candidate after a diploma is not eligible for this examination.

AMIE Course Duration and Fees:

The total course duration for the AMIE section A & section B exams is 12 years. Maximum 6 years for Section A & 6 years for Section B.

The minimum course duration for the AMIE section A & section B exams is 2 years.

AMIE Exam Scheme:

For becoming a member of AMIE candidates have to pass two types of examinations known as Section A and Section B examinations.

Section A is common for all candidates. After clearing the Section A exam candidates become eligible to appear in the Section B exam.

In section, B candidates choose their respective disciplines of engineering.

Section A Examination is about the basics of Engineering whereas Section B examination is about the in-depth concepts of a particular discipline of engineering selected by candidates.

Examinations are conducted twice a year in June and December month, commonly known as summer and winter examinations in Engineering.

AMIE is one of the best alternatives to getting an engineering degree in a very short time span. Any working professional can get a degree in Engineering in any discipline.
