Equivalent Certificate Means:

Before understanding the Equivalent Certificate Means We will discuss the progressive steps taken by our honorable Government toward the educational qualification framework.

To make available avenues of higher learning to students upon completing ITI and Diploma courses, the honorable Government has declared.

  • 10th equivalent certificate for 8th & 2 years ITI pass-out candidate.
  • 12th equivalent certificate for 10th & 2 years ITI pass-out candidate.
  • 12th equivalent certificate for 3 years Diploma pass-out candidate.

Consideration of courses done in Industrial Training Institute and three-year Diploma course done in Polytechnic as equivalent to Standard 10th and Standard 12th for the purpose of higher education education and Government jobs.

For making education employment-oriented by encouraging and promoting skill-development courses imparted in Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnics and with a view to bridging the gap between Skill Training and Higher Education, the matter was under consideration of the State Government.

For treating recognized courses of Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnic Colleges in the State as equivalent to Standard 10th and Standard 12th for the purpose of higher education education and Government jobs.

In this regard, by education department Resolution No. MSB-1211-590-CH on the day of 02 June 2011 first cited above It was directed to treat such education as equivalent to Standard 10th and Standard 12th for the purpose of pursuing higher education only.

Now, It has been under consideration of the Government for treating such education as equivalent to standard 10th and Standard 12th for the purposes of Government jobs as well.

After careful consideration of the matter, It is resolved by the government as under:

1. Equivalent Certificate Means for 8th & 2 years ITI pass-out candidate:

Those candidates who, after 8th Standard, have completed a recognized course of Industrial Training Institutes (I.T.I.) conducted for a duration of two years or more and have passed the examination in that regard held by the National Council for Vocational Training (N.C.V.T.) or State Council for Vocational Training (S.C.V.T.).

And of their own volition have appeared and passed the examination conducted by the State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board for the subject of English and First Language of concern State prescribed for Standard 10th.

Such candidates shall be considered as possessing educational qualification of Standard 10th for the purpose of Government jobs.”

2. Equivalent Certificate Means for 10th & 2 years ITI pass-out candidate:

“Those candidates who, after passing Standard 10th, have completed a recognized course of I.T.I. conducted for a period of two years or more and have passed the examination in that regard held by National Council for Vocational Training (N.C.V.T.) or State Council for Vocational Training (S.C.V.T.).

And of their own volition have appeared and passed the examination conducted by the State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board for the subject of English only prescribed for Standard 12th.

Such candidates shall be considered as possessing educational qualification of Standard 12th for the purpose of Government jobs.”

3. Equivalent Certificate Means for 3 years Diploma pass-out candidate:

“Those candidates who, after passing Standard 10th, have done a three-year Diploma course in Polytechnic, such candidates shall be considered as possessing educational qualification of Standard 12th for the purpose of Government jobs.”

As per the above resolution of the Honorable Government, State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board have started to issue Certificate to the ITI or Diploma holder candidates for making them eligible for the 10th and 12th Standard, Which Certificate is known as Equivalent Certificate.

The honorable Government has declared 3 types of Equivalent certificates:

1. 10th Equivalent Certificate for 8th & 2 years ITI pass-out candidate:

ITI holder candidate having a duration of 2 years or more after 8th is considered as 10th equivalent. For the purpose of higher education education and Government jobs.

Candidate must have to appear and pass the examination conducted by the State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board for the subject of only English and First Language of concern State prescribed for Standard 10th.


2. 12th Equivalent Certificate for 10th & 2 years ITI pass-out candidate:

ITI holder candidate having a duration of 2 years or more after 10th is considered as 12th equivalent. For the purpose of higher education education and Government jobs.

Candidates must have to appear and pass the examination conducted by the State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board for the subject of only English prescribed for Standard 12th.

3. 12th Equivalent Certificate for 3 years Diploma pass-out candidate:

Diploma holder candidate having a duration of 3 years or more after 10th is considered as 12th equivalent. For the purpose of higher education education and Government jobs.

It is not required to pass English or the First language for the candidate of Diploma holder to get the 12th equivalent certificate.
